SAKI awarded the City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department a $238,031 grant in FY2018 to complete their sexual assault kit (SAK) inventory and submit all previously unsubmitted SAKs to a private laboratory. The department also convened an interdisciplinary working group to update protocols related to sexual assault investigations.

In FY2020, the City of Fort Lauderdale received an additional $218,496 in SAKI funding to continue testing previously unsubmitted SAKs and developing a comprehensive SAK tracking system.
