Sexual assault victims on their path toward recovery will need compassionate support and guidance toward professional services. Navigating the criminal justice system can be difficult for sexual assault victims, due to the trauma they experienced. To find victim care, survivors need victim advocates to access resources to help victims, and enhance their relationship with the criminal justice system, and continued support by the trusted individuals they choose to disclose to.
Funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative aims to create a coordinated community response that ensures just resolution to sexual assault cases. Through this program, funding is provided to support multidisciplinary community response teams engaged in the comprehensive reform of jurisdictions approaches to sexual assault cases resulting from evidence found in previously unsubmitted sexual assault kits.
