Survivors will have pressing questions about next steps in the cold case investigation and prosecution of their sexual assault. Prosecutors play a role in engaging victims throughout the criminal justice process. Working with the multidisciplinary teams in planning victim notification is important to ensure victim healing and integrity of the case. Prosecutors’ trauma-informed, victim-centered responses to these questions are key to maintaining survivor engagement through the judicial process.
